Atopica is the brand name for cyclosporine, an immune modulating drug used in the treatment of allergic and autoimmune skin disease. Vomiting, diarrhea, and loss of appetite can be seen during the first week of therapy. During the first week of this medication it may be helpful to give with food. Ideally the medication is given on an empty stomach, at least 2 hours before or after a meal. It may take up to 4 to 6 weeks to see the maximal benefit from this medication. If you note any vomiting, diarrhea, or loss of appetite, please stop medication and call our office.
